Pradip Kumar Routray, an alumnus of Sound Recording & Sound Engineering Department of FTII Pune (1986-89), is a renowned name who has worked as a Song Recordist in Mumbai’s major Sound Recording Studios for over 20 years.

He has worked as a Music Recording Engineer with the Sahara Group, T-series, Sunny Super Sounds, Bombay Lab etc. He has worked as a Music/Song Recording Engineer for Bollywood’s biggest block busters of the time like ‘Baazi’, ‘Border’, ‘Fiza’, ‘Chachi 420’, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Ghatak’, ‘Masoom’, ‘Judai’, ‘Khamoshi’, Kareeb’, ‘Raja Hindustani’ etc. His Film Audio Post work includes Sound Design & Mixing of films like ‘Banjaran’‘Ghayal’‘Henna’ and others.

Pradip has recorded, mixed and mastered Music Albums of popular Singers & Musicians like Asha BhosaleUstad Amjad Ali KhanDaler MehndiAdesh Shrivastav etc. He has travelled all over India and abroad as FOH Engineer for over 30 Music Concerts with the legendary Asha Bhosale and various other artists. He has also been involved in Consultation, Acoustic Design & Installation of Sound Recording Studios.

He was nominated for the Lux Zee Cine Technical Awards thrice in the category of ‘Best Song Recording’ for ‘Dulhe Raja’ (1998), ‘Biwi No.1’ (1999) & ‘Fiza’ (2000).

Pradip was one of the first Recording Engineers to work on India’s first Digital Audio Workstation ‘AMS Audiofile’ in 1989 in Mumbai. Subsequently he has completed an Operational Training Course on SL9000 K Series Console and  5.1 Surround Sound Mixing, at Solid State Logic, Oxfordshire, UK. On invitation, Pradip visited Music & Mastering Studios in London like Air Lyndhurst, Metropolis, Sony, Sphere etc.

He has had an intense, challenging and highly fulfilling career where he worked with topmost clientele, latest tools & technology of the industry. Having such a vast experience to his credit, post 2002 Pradip actively engaged in academics – training & mentoring at Institutes & Universities offering courses in Sound Recording & Engineering, Film Sound Design & Audio Post-production & Live Sound Reinforcement. Pradip conducted workshops on Music Recording, Mixing & Sound Design at FTII Pune, SRFTI Kolkata and other Institutes. He continues to teach at Private Institutes, Universities and also at FTII as Guest Faculty.

Pradip’s invaluable experience in academics will guide & mentor the GenNext Sound Engineers and make them Industry-ready. He is the architect and pillar of our academic structuring and layout of TAFA course.
