Four time National Award winner for the films Madras Café – 2014Bajirao Mastani -2016, URI –The Surgical Strike 2019 and Children of the Soil (non-feature category) 2019 and a Member of The Oscar Academy’s Class of 2018Bishwadeep Dipak Chatterjee is a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, in Sound Recording & Sound Engineering.

He has designed and mixed the sound for feature films like “Chokher Bali” by the late Rituparno Ghosh, “Lage Raho Munnabhai”, “3 Idiots” & “Sanju” by Rajkumar Hirani, Parineeta by Pradeep Sarkar, “Madras Café” and “Piku” by Shoojit Sarkar, “Bajirao Mastani” and “Padmavat” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, URI The Surgical Strike by Aditya Dhar, “Roam Rome Mein” by Tannishtha Chatterjee, “Brahmastra” by Ayan Mukerji & many others. His upcoming movie is “Adipurush” by Om Raut.

Bishwadeep’s other accolades include 3  Filmfare5 IIFA4 Screen2 Producers’ Guild, 3 Zee Cine & 1GIMA awards. He has also been awarded the West Bengal State Award for Contribution to Cinema & the Goa State Award for Sound Design of Konkani Film “K Sera Sera.”

He is known to introduce and bring in a fresh approach in recording methods. Some of his most prestigious projects as a Music Engineer has been for Television serials like “Chanakya”, “Junoon” & “Swabhiman”, Music albums like “Ab Ke Sawan” by Shantanu Moitra & Shubha Mudgal, “Dooba-Dooba” by Silkroute, Films like “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” &  “Devdas” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “Munnabhai MBBS,” by Rajkumar Hirani.

Having a career span of over 3 decades, he has worked in every department of Sound for Feature Films, Short Films, Documentaries, Television serials, Advertising films and Music Albums.

Bishwadeep has designed, installed and consulted on several Recording Studio installation projects including six of his own. He has also lectured and taken workshops at FTII Pune, SRFTI Kolkata & several other private institutions. On invitation, he has also conducted Masterclasses on Sound Design in Cinema at IFFI (Goa) and PIFF (Pune).

Bishwadeep along with his partner Nihar Ranjan Samal, started TAFA (Timbreworx Advanced Film Audiography) Institute with the vision to impart specialized training in Film Audiography. His guidance and mentorship will help students sharpen their skills significantly and achieve great heights in their career.
